Last week took place the Swiss Epic, a 5-day UCI race belonging to the Epic Series and accredited as hors catégorie. This mythical event, held in Grisons, took our team through the incredible landscapes and trails of Switzerland.
On this occasion the pairs that formed the two teams were: Hans Becking with José Días and Enrique Morcillo with Hugo Drechou.
With 11,700 metres of vertical drop and 11,850 metres of spectacular descent, the route of the SPAR Swiss Epic 2022 had a total length of 359 kilometres.
Each of the stages was very different and the team did not stop fighting at any time even if they encountered some difficulties. In the first stage Hans and José finished fourth, while Enrique and Hugo crossed the finish line in eighth place.
In the second stage on the other hand, Enrique and Hugo took third place on the podium, but their team-mates, Hans Becking and José Dias, were eighth after the Portuguese driver got a stick in his rear wheel and had to stop in the feedzone to change it.
In the third stage, the rain was the protagonist and bad luck was again with a puncture that left Hans and José without podium option, although entering in fourth position. Hugo and Morcillo consolidated their fifth place in the overall standings by finishing in fifth position.
In the 4th and 5th stages, Hans and José worked hard to make podium on both days. In the fourth they took second place and in the fifth they took third place overall and the bronze medal in the Swiss Epic. Spain's Enrique Morcillo and France's Hugo Drechou, in their second time competing as a pair, have shown a good rapport and finally finished in fifth place overall.
Congratulations to the whole team for their great work!
